Service Report: Volta Stage 3 Lithium Battery Repair

Unit: Volta Stage 3 (5.12kWh / 100Ah / 202Ah Series)
Issue: No Output Voltage / Faulty BMS
Problem Diagnosis
The client reported that the Volta Stage 3 Lithium-Ion battery was completely unresponsive. Despite showing a physical presence in the system, there was zero volt output at the terminals, and the unit would not accept a charge from the inverter.
Upon initial testing, our technicians confirmed:
- Internal Cell Health: All Grade-A LiFePO4 cells were balanced and holding a healthy resting voltage.
- BMS Status: The Battery Management System (BMS) had suffered a hardware failure on the discharge MOSFETs, preventing the battery from “waking up” or releasing power.
The Repair Process
Restoring a high-capacity 202Ah battery requires precision to ensure the safety protocols and communication protocols (CANbus/RS485) remain intact for inverter synchronization.
- Safety Discharge & Disassembly: The casing was opened in a static-controlled environment. We performed a manual capacity check on the cell bank to ensure no individual cells were compromised.
- BMS Replacement: The faulty BMS unit was removed. We installed a genuine Volta-compatible Smart BMS rated for high-discharge cycles.
- Firmware Syncing: The new BMS was flashed with the latest firmware to ensure seamless communication with popular inverter brands like Sunsynk, Deye, and Victron.
- Load Testing: We subjected the battery to a controlled discharge test at 0.2C to verify thermal stability and ensure the “no output” issue was fully resolved.
